Seit meiner frühesten Kindheit, das heißt seit nunmehr über 70 Jahren, baue ich Schiffe und Modelle aus Karton und Papier. Anfangs noch grobe Eigenkonstruktionen, später dann Wilhelmshavener Modellbaubögen. Mein gesamtes Taschengeld steckte damals in diesen Modellen. Später habe ich mir auf  Schiffen des Norddeutschen Lloyd, bei der Bundesmarine, auf Rahseglern und Schonern einiges an Detailwissen angeeignet, dass mir jetzt beim Bau meiner Modelle von großem Wert ist. Nach kurzen Ausflügen in den Holz- und Plastikmodellbau bin ich immer wieder zum Kartonmodellbau zurückgekehrt..

Bis vor 8 Jahren habe ich ausschließlich Modelle im Maßstab 1:250 oder größer gebaut. Aber nach einer ganzen Reihe von Modellbaujahren gab es ein Platzproblem. Da die Frage "Wohin damit" nicht befriedigend geklärt werden konnte, lag es nahe, den Maßstab zu verkleinern. Ich entschloss mich für den "Sammler-Maßstab" 1:1250 und habe nun schon eine stattliche Anzahl dieser "Minis" gebaut.

Meine Schiffe und Dioramen fertige ich überwiegend aus  handelsüblichen farbigem Brief- bzw. Tonpapier (80 - 130 g.). Alle Modelle sind nach Vorlagen (Fotos, Pläne, etc.) selbst entworfen, von mir per Hand gezeichnet und somit Unikate! Der Computer kommt bei mir nur bei der Recherche eines Modells zum Einsatz. Gerne nehme ich Aufträge an, wenn sie für mich interessant sind.

Since my early chilhood, that means over 70 years now. I have been building ships and models with paper and cardboard. In the beginning this was to my own rough design, later on to the "Wihelmshavener Modellbaubögen". All my pocket money was spent on these models. In later years I gathered detailed knowledge on Norddeutscher Lloyd ships and the German Naval sailing ships, which comes in handy when building my models. After experimenting with wood and plastic for a while, I returned to building ship models with paper.

Up to eight years ago I only built to a scale of 1:250 or larger. But after a couple of years I had a space problem. There was no satisfactory answer to the question of "Where to display the models?", which resulted in a reduced scale. I decided to use the collectors' scale of 1:1250 and have meanwhile buit quite a few of these "minis".

The majority of my models and dioramas are built with standard coloured paper and cardboard (80 to 130 g/qm). Each model has been constructed with the help of information on the originals (photo, plans etc.), drawn by hand and as such is uinique. I only use the computer for researching details of a model.
